Vilhelmina - Wild and Beautiful - is situated in very scenic surroundings in southern Lapland along the Inland Railway and National Rd 45. There are good communications by air and by coach/train. The municipality is one of the largest ones in the inland with its circa 7 600 inhabitants, of which more than half live in urban Vilhelmina, generally called "the Place", where a high level of public services can be offered to residents as well as visitors. In the whole municipality, and particularly in our high mountain valleys, there are lots of opportunities for hunting, fishing and other outdoor life, especially skiing. Awards like "Fishing Municipality of the Year" and "Hunting Municipality of the Year" confirm its natural conditions. A runner-up prize as "Culture Municipality of the Year" is a proof of also other interests being satisfied. The premises of the Learning Centre are located in the upper secondary school building, Malgomajskolan 2, street address Skolgatan 12, together with the municipal adult education.
