The Motor Function - The Learning Centre as a local Development Centre |

In 2008 - 2010 Akademi Norr is running a large project within the European Regional Fund with the aim of creating knowledge-driven growth in the AN region. There is a focus on efficient co-operation among enterprises, the motor function of the learning centre and municipal operators in order to strengthen the competitiveness of the AN region.
Project objectives:
- At least one learning centre in each municipality that will function as a motor for local development and with an innovative and entrepreneurial atmosphere. Learning centres are to be developed into strong and independent units, tied together in networks that can initiate measures for competence development within trade and industry with a strong focus on priority growth areas activities with development potentials.
- To develop a functioning infrastructure for competence development in working life. The learning centres is to be a co-operation partner and develop models for requirements analyses and implementation so that trade andindustry as well as public administration in the AN region will also get the same opportunities as those of the campus towns and cities. Learning centres will thus be efficient tools for the development of trade and industry in the member municipalities.
- To develop and establish a model for incubator activities in sparsely populated areas with a focus on youths as a target group.
- To implement a developed model, aimed at the tourism industry, which will consider both how competence may be supplied and organized and how enterprises may become capable of implementing renovative measures as well as facilitating knowledge and competence development in a strong way (TLA).
- Increased co-operation among enterprises, the community and universities (triple helix).
- At least two co-operation projects with international partners.
- Good operative co-operation among learning centres, municipal trade & industry units, trade and industry and its organizations and educators with the aim to get better correspondence between the complete supply of education and the requirements of the labour market.
- To develop further the existing network structures within Akademi Norr in order to help and support small enterprises in the member municipalities.
